If I had to boil down MY beef with Pink Truth into one word, it would be LIES.  Everything that Pink Truth says is exactly what they claim to hate.  Half truth's and lies of omission and blatant lies. I find it interesting that Tracy highlights the part about her giving up her customers as the thing to focus in on.  I don't claim to know what Mary Kay's policy is regarding the handling of redistribution of customers, but I know that using someones password in a manner other than they gave it for is not just deceptive, it is wrong. THAT would be what I would focus on in this story. When you TERMINATE your contract with Mary Kay by returning your product, how are you doing anything BUT giving up your customers? Tracy, if there is one thing in this story that rings as true and honest (just based on common sense) it would be that she gave up her customers when she TERMINATED her relationship with Mary Kay.

I don't know a whole lot about Mary Kay in terms of these 'facts' that are being presented, so I can't say one way or the other where these facts came from or if there is any truth to them at all.  But, Pink Truth has actually put less time into disproving them than whoever first published them. Instead of saying (for instance) that Mary Kay is actually #1,114 in internet sales and citing their source, they simply say "says who". Now granted, if you are given this piece of paper with all these facts on it, YOU should be asking where the statistics are coming from. And from my experience, chances are pretty good that the person giving it to you will not know. So the caution here is valid, but Pink Truth's continuing insistence to refer to questioning everything Mary Kay presents as truth is ridiculous. Pink Truth, you are not offering any truth. You are simply saying you hate Mary Kay and saying "no it's not" to everything they say.  That is NOT truth. It is just being an obnoxious little sister.

This doesn't even make sense.  One thing I picked up on though is Raisinberry's assumption that Pink Truth is "the real truth".  She asks if her readers have 'noticed' the difference between Mary Kay's "story" and the "real truth" at Pink Truth.  I've noticed.  Mary Kay may put some crazy stuff out there... things get embellished to the point of being dishonest.  But at least I have never heard anyone from Mary Kay frothing at the mouth the way Pink Truth does, insisting that they be believed as the "real truth". If I had to peg one or the other as a cult, my money would be on Pink Truth!

Granted this anonymous commenter is probably taking considerable liberties with her numbers here, but Tracy's confidence that she is right and this woman is wrong is stupefying.  Also her disdain for Mary Kay is at cross purposes.  Either Mary Kay is, as she claims, on the way out as everyone is sick and tired of 'the game', as she calls it; or, Mary Kay is still a potent force in the cosmetic game (also as she claims) and the market is saturated.

Typical Pink Truth nonsense. An argument could be made that Mary Kay is a little to keen on their meetings.  One could also be made that there is not 'sophisticated' enough training at most of those meetings. However, the nature of sales dictates that you are knowledgeable and EXCITED about what you are selling. Getting excited about what your selling is probably one of the most important parts of weekly (and special) events.

I am sure that Pink Truth would love for me to speculate about why this woman failed at Mary Kay.  Truth is, they don't offer any of the details that would be important to figuring it out. Pink Truth says "She followed the plan".  What did this look like?  We have no idea.  How many faces did she do?  How many phone calls did she make?  There is no way to know what this woman did or didn't do, except that she SAID things like "I am on target".  No one in Mary Kay (to my knowledge) teaches that ALL you have to do is believe.  You have to believe and then do WORK to make it happen.  As scared as Pink Truth seems of hard work, I have a hard time believing any of their testimonies.

Personally, I don't think that the blog post that Tracy references here backs up half the things that she claims it does.  It should, however, give anyone doing 'cattle call' style recruiting events (like this one) and calling it a 'pampering session' something to think about. You certainly wont win many customers or recruits if you start out being deceptive!
